Rev. Elijah Craig founded his distillery in 1789 and is widely credited with being the first whiskey distiller to store and ship his wares in charred barrels damaged in a barn fire, which imparted, by the time the whiskey was floated down the Mississippi to New Orleans, a beneficial color and flavor to the whiskey.
Storage for a minimum of two years in a new charred white oak barrel is now a US government requirement for a whiskey to be called Bourbon, so for this reason, a Baptist minister is forever known as the "Father of Bourbon"!
The Before & After
Elijah Craig is a premium bourbon whiskey with a wonderful flavor profile and great tasting notes. The redesign was aimed at updating the packaging to reflect the premium quality of the bourbon.
